Thankfully, I was home when Heather's water broke. We made it to the hospital in good time and were quickly transfered to the delivery room - or as they called it, "the birthing place" (seems like a creepy name to me). The anesthesiologist had only just put in the epidural catheter when the nurse suggested to Heather, "why don't you try giving a little push". Eleven minutes later Deacon was born, and only then was it realized that they hadn't finished hooking up the epidural. Both mom and baby did great! Even though the pediatrician estimated that Deacon was closer to three weeks early (in line with Heather's original due date), he was a healthy 6 lbs and had no problems feeding. As a result, he and Heather were released the next day.
The kids have been so excited, and think he is the best thing ever. It's really special to see how the older kids interact with him. Ella especially is going to be such a big help.
At one point Mason turned to Heather and pledged in an almost whisper, "I love Deacon so much, I will never hit him". Ella was holding him at the time, and looked down regretfully before confessing, "I might".
I wondered if Tyson would be a little jealous now that he is no longer the youngest or the cutest. So far, he is just as excited about his new brother as the rest of us are. He treats him like a little toy doll. At one point he was holding him and I noticed that Deacon's head was turned sideways with his body slipping off Tyson's lap in the other direction. I said to him, "careful, Deacon's all..." and tried to think of a word. "Jacked up?" Tyson suggested after looking at his 's'-shaped brother. Yes, precisely.
When we were released from the hospital, Deacon took his first elevator ride, first car ride, and then met Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Crystal, and two of his cousins.
Just wait until you meet the rest of them.

what great pictures! I love him already! Welcome home deacon.
Congrats!! We can't wait to see him soon!!! Hope Heather and Deacon are getting rest and hope that Chad is doing all the work. (what am I talking about... we'll come visit soon, and bring meals too!!!!)
We love him. Thanks for the pictures!
Deacon in your watch? Now that's new! Getting pretty desperate to show off your new watch hey!!!
Jewel that photo was for size comparison only. I just thought that anyone out there with a Seiko "Tuna" 300m saturation diver, would be able to look at it and estimate how small Deacon is.
And yes, I am actually helping out a little.
We can't wait to see you guys,

Congratulations on your new baby Deacon! He sure is a handsome little guy!
It’s good to see he shares your passion for watches Chad. Was that picture taken the day he was born? I think it would be cool to have a photo like that with daddy’s watch included for size perspective but that also just happens to show the date and day of the week you were born on.
I should have thought of that Lorin. I didn't want to take the photo on the day he was born because he still looked kinda gross, but I could have turned the day/date wheels back...
He was born TUE/18
