Finer Things Club: Kris Kross

It would be impossible to feature Finer Things without also touching on musical culture. For some reason while I was reading Jewel's June 4th blog, this group just popped into my head. I don't think I'm misspeaking when I say that Mac Daddy and Daddy Mac may be the finest 12 year-old rappers that the early 90s had to offer.

Their manner of dress is a little more conventional in this video but it's one of the few KK videos on youtube that allowed embedding:

I hear that some people are trying to bring back the Kris Kross style. Is it the next big thing, or just a fashion faux pas. Time will tell, but I think the artists themselves said it best with:

"And everything is to the back with a little slack
'Cause inside-out is wiggida wiggida wiggida wack"

Well said, gentlemen.

Peace out

When I was about 14 I worked in a warehouse where our duty was to fill medicine bottles with pills and then box them for shipment. I may have been working for a drug dealer - I have no idea. Anywho, some guys that worked with me were also "junior rappers." They opened for Kriss Kross when they came to town. It has always been a thrill for me to know that I once worked in the presence of rapper greatness. I was also only 2 degrees separated from Kriss Kross. Moments of glory like this don't come often and I am grateful to share this one with you. Peace.

Hahahaha Josh you seriously need to write a book! You knew guys that opened for Kris Kross? How could you have not mentioned that when we were comps???

Chad - I am sorry that I never mentioned it. I should have known that someone who has impeccible taste in motorcycles and fine time pieces would also be a Kris Kross fan. I am sorry to have robbed you of this knowledge for the past decade. Please accept my sincerest apologies.
