The Universe

Pretty ambitious title for a blog post right? Well, I've been saving these pictures for the past year or so because I think it's mind-bottling to see the relative sizes of the planets and stars, and to consider just how huge the Universe is. It borders on breathtaking. It would definitely be breathtaking to see these things in real life - like if you were standing on the bridge of a spaceship or something. Oh, and especially if, for some reason, everyone on Earth was counting on the success of your mission...

Sorry. This was supposed to be a serious post. I'll shut up and give you a chance to look at the following pictures and try to imagine what a tiny speck we live on. And then to consider that each of us living on this tiny speck are known, and loved, and important.

Antares is the 15th brightest star in our sky. It is more than 1000 light years away.

If I had to select only three things that I thought were the most awesomest things ever, then "the Universe and everything in it" would definitely be one of my choices.

I'm glad you were able to narrow your list of aweosme things to just THAT ONE! Many people would have a difficult time choosing what is "most awesome" You are right though it is an amazing thought.

I personally found it MIND BOGGLING!

Seriously though, how do you learn all this stuff?

"Mind bottling".... is that like trying to squish lots of stuff into a tiny little space. At first glance I thought the last photo was a depiction of your ego (Antares) up against perhaps your mental capacity (Jupiter). For anyone reading this blog who must think I'm a total cow....believe me.... this is NOTHING compared to what I get dished out at our family gatherings. (It's just nice to be able to have more time to cosider my come backs vs. when it's "live"). But seriously, great post Chad. Mind bottling!!!

Zing! Hey, but seriously, did you write this after I just got off the phone talking to you? The eliptical repair guy honestly just showed up, I wasn't making that up.

To everyone else: Jewel also used to pick on me a lot at the dinner table when we were kids. Fortunately our dad was pretty aware of things and dealt with it appropriately.

Also, no one has ever described my mental capacity as Jupiterian before. Wow, that is probably an exaggeration but still very generous of you. Thanks,

(I need time to think of comebacks too)

Oh nice Chad. Way to reopen that wound. Seriously I spent most of my teenage years banished to my room at meal times cause you would make up some thing ridiculous and Dad would of course believe you and send me to my room as a punishment. I can remember it like it was yesterday, trying to defend myself (but of course I couldn't with you around!) and heading off to my room to eat my supper. You'd ALWAYS wink at me or flash a little smile as I'd leave the table! Dad never found out the truth until after Kendall and I were married and we got talking about. You actually confessed didn't you Chad? I imagine it must have felt good to get that off your conscience after so many years!!!!
